Biography
Kyungho Choi is a Professor of Environmental Health Sciences at the Graduate School of Public Health, Seoul National University, where he also directs the BK21 FOUR Program for Global Leaders in Environmental Health (BK4GLOBE). His research focuses on the human and ecological health impacts of endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) and contaminants of emerging concern (CECs). By integrating mechanistic toxicology using Danio rerio (zebrafish) and in vitro models with human biomonitoring and environmental epidemiology, his laboratory investigates chemical exposure pathways, toxicological mechanisms, and population health outcomes. His work spans a broad spectrum of environmental contaminants, including PFAS, plasticizers, organic UV filters, bisphenols, pharmaceuticals, and persistent organic pollutants (POPs).
Professor Choi has an extensive research track record in environmental health and toxicology, contributing significantly to understanding chemical exposures in susceptible populations, particularly pregnant women and children. His research initiatives extend across Asia and through global collaborative networks addressing emerging environmental contaminants. He currently serves as an Associate Editor of Environment International and holds editorial and advisory leadership roles across prominent journals in environmental health and toxicology.
Perspectives
Understanding human and ecological health impacts of endocrine-disrupting chemicals and emerging contaminants; integrating mechanistic toxicology using zebrafish and in vitro models with human biomonitoring and epidemiological studies; and translating evidence on chemical exposure and toxicity into environmental health risk assessment and public health policy.
